After having worked in Korea for a month and spoken with teachers here (and other teachers who have taught in many different countries), I have come to realize that really teachers anywhere are not made into teachers but just are teachers. Your concluding question is probably one that most idealistic wannabe teachers never ask themselves and it should be the first thing that is asked of them. So, to end, it really comes down to, "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime--unless you are a bad teacher, then have him get frustrated, give up, and never attempt catching seafood for the rest of his life".
